Course Description:
This course continues the development of algebraic skills and concepts. The topics include: right triangle trigonometry, linear equations, functions, application of systems of linear equations, inequalities, rational expressions and equations, operations on radicals and rational exponents, quadratic equations, exponential and logarithmic functions.Text: Intermediate Algebra, A Graphing Approach, 4rd Ed., K. Elayn Martin-Gay, Prentice-Hall, .
Graphing calculator: Texas Instruments TI 83+ , 84+ or TI 85.There is important information on trigonometry and calculator use at http://www.trcc.commnet.edu/Prog_Study/Mathematics/Index.htm.
Responsibilities:
- Come to class on time.
If you are late and enter carrying a cup of coffee or soft drink you will be marked absent.- Participate in class . If you don't understand something--ask immediately.
- Seek help when needed. Use office hours and free tutors in Learning Assistance Center.
- Do the assigned homework everyday
- Be prepared for exams
- Keep all returned exams until your final grade is received
Course Evaluation:

- There will be 5 tests, each taking approximately 50 minutes,
and a 1 hour departmental final examination.- There will be no make-up tests.
- Any student with an A average (89 or better) will be exempt from taking the final exam. I will drop the lowest test score . If you miss a test, that test score will be the dropped. (However, if you miss the fourth test you must take the final exam).
- Test grades are available online at www.huskybiz.com . The Student ID number is the last four digits of your Three Rivers ID number.
Attendance policy:
Any student with more than four unexcused classes will have five points subtracted from the final average. Missed classes will be not be excused for any reason.College Withdrawal Policy
Students may withdraw, in writing at the Registrar's Office, for any reason until the end of the 10th week of classes. From the 11th week through the end of the 13th week, a student may withdraw with the signature of the instructor or advisor.

Students are notified that cellular phones are allowed in class or in the Learning Resource Center only if they are turned off or turned to a silent mode. Under no circumstances are phones to be answered in class. Sending or receiving text messages is not allowed. When there are extenuating circumstances that require that a student be available by cell phone or text message, the student should speak to the instructor prior to class, so that together an agreement can be worked out.
